Billybilt — Handcrafted Boutique 5-String
Staff pick · Sanford Beautifully haunting sustain!
Why we bought it
This is a handcrafted Billybilt 5-string banjo, built in Winnipeg by a small Canadian maker known for boutique, low-volume instruments. Billybilt pieces rarely surface, and when they do, they're valued for their craftsmanship, clean build quality, and traditional tone. If you're looking for something beyond the usual factory banjos, this is exactly that. The neck features flame maple, beautiful wood grain with star inlays, smooth tuners, and comfortable action suited for both clawhammer and bluegrass. The hardware is tight, the rim is solid, and the Remo Weatherking head delivers a crisp, balanced voice. The original Winnipeg builder plate is intact a detail collectors appreciate.
